breaking stereotypes

nowadays gender stereotypes is a global problem. for example, we always thinks women should stay at home and men are supposed to go out working. So, there are some ways to break gender stereotypes. First, we should expand the range of activities for each gender. for instance, boys and girls can play together such as games, sports and so on. second, we should ask all generalization. Specifically, parents should careful any words about gender, and do not say some complaining, "do not running like girl". Then, turn in to your own biases. boys and girls both need to be shown that there are alternatives to the classic stereotypes. Apparently, we should prevent gender stereotypes, because gender stereotypes always give us incorrect information.

Gender equality in education

What difference in education between boys and girls? In this short YouTube video tell us the answer. According to this video there are three difference between boys and girls in education. First, boys do less homework than girl and rarely read in their spare time, usually they spend more time on computer games. At the mean time, girls are afraid to apply science concept. Then, in this short video give us to solutions to solve those problems, First, this video suggests parents and teachers can help boys their reading habits. For example, parents can let boys choosing the books what they like. Then, for girls parents could give them more confidence and encourage girls solving problem independently. I believe, those solutions can help gender equality in education.

Journal#9 How to avoid gender stereotypes

Gender stereotypes is a widespread problem in our society. For example, almost all baby boys or girls's hobbies and clothes are decide by their parents. specifically, boys should wear blue clothes and like sports, and girls should wear dresses and like piano, guitar and so on. But how to avoid gender stereotypes? in my opinion, there are 3 ways to avoid it.
First, we should let children play all activities. For example, if girls want to play soccer parents should not stop them, In other words, parents should not tell what girls or boys should do. Then, help children respect boys and girls is a effective way to avoid gender stereotypes. For example, when boys complain girls such as “girls always like to cry", parents should explain to children and teach them respect to each other. In the end, the last way to avoid gender stereotypes is that parents should develop children's healthy attitudes about gender. For example, parents should careful when they talk about children's gender.

Journal#8 Female gender stereotypes

we have already talked about a lot of things about gender stereotypes. In the last couple journals we know what effect of gender stereotypes and gender stereotypes in commercial and so on. But what is gender stereotypes? so today we are gonna focus on what female gender stereotypes is. In simpler term, gender stereotypes are generalizations about the roles of each gender.
there are a lot of example for female gender stereotypes.
"women are supposed to have "clean job" such as teachers and librarians"
 "women are nurses, not doctor"
 "women don't play sports"
"women do not need to college"
"women are not as strong as men"
"women do not need to go out"
   ...

obviously, those opinion for women is totally wrong, in our society women also can play sports, for example, we still have female basketball player in almost every country. And a lot of women become professional doctor. So those idea are incorrect obviously.

Journal#7 The Backlash Ellen DeGeneres Faced After Coming Out

Professor Charles talks a lot of gay issue in recent media class, and she show as a interview which talks about how Ellen DeGeneres faced after coming out. In this interview Ellen thinks she has responsibility to come out and tell people that it is ok being a gay.
it is true in our society it is hard being a gay, because a lot of people will use some horrible words to judge and mock you, in people eyes they never accept the exist of gay, So I think that is why so many gay people choose to suicide. Moreover, in the past, anything related gay are forbidden. so even now young people are afraid to tell their parent the truth. No doubt, coming out of Ellen give a lot of gay people power. and Ellen speaks out her voice and try to people do not need to feel shame for being gay.

Journal #6:how does gender stereotypes affect Boys and Girls?

In the past journals we have already discussed gender stereotypes exist anywhere such as commercials, films and so on and gender stereotypes give us huge effect especial for boys and girls. Then you must curious why gender stereotypes have such effect to boys and girls, there are some unbelievable data from this youtube video which I posted. First, according to this video producer argue American teenagers spend 31 hours a week watching TV and 17 hours a week listening to music, moreover, they spend 3 hours a week watching movies and 4 hours a week reading magazines. Obviously, american teenager spend the most of time on media. No doubt, media is powerful message and people learn from media and know what is going on in our society. For example, nowadays people did not like communicate face to face, on the contrary, they'd like to use Facebook to talk on the internet. In fact, sometime media will give boys and girls some wrong messages, for example, young girls are over care their looks and bodies, and girls spend the most of time on make up. Then, boys always think they should not cry and should be strong anytime. On average, 53% of 13 year old girls are unhappy with their bodies and that number increase to 78%by age 17. indeed, boys and girls will become negative, self-disgust, shame and so on.
